Laura is a seasoned life sciences sector consultant whose career has taken her through many facets of the healthcare ecosystem including the pharmaceutical, clinical homecare, patients support and patient advocacy spaces. She has worked on the launch of new treatments and has developed innovative patient support programs and patient activation initiatives in the rare disease setting. Over the past 15 years these experiences have shown her that patients and their support networks do vital work in healthcare systems through their efforts to care for themselves and their loved ones. Her passion for educating and empowering people to shape their healthcare journey comes from realizing that efforts to equip them with the information, tools, skills and support they need to do this are often lacking. This led to her joining forces with Global Genes to launch RareUniversity, a free online education initiative for the global RARE community. Laura grew up in Toronto, Canada, after which her career (and love of travel) have taken her all over the world. Laura currently lives in Paris, France with her partner and has both family and friends who are RARE.
