Senior Director, Patient and Family Support Services | Children's Mercy Hospital
Stacey established the Child Life program in 1994 at Children’s Mercy Hospital, growing it from a 3-person to a 55-person program today. Certified Child Life Specialists promote positive environments for patients and their families, providing materials and guidance for developmentally appropriate play, preparing and supporting children for medical experiences, advocating for patient and family engagement. Also established under her leadership the Music Therapy Department provides opportunities for socialization, self-expression, and normalization of the hospital environment. Our team of Board Certified Music Therapist encourages children to take an active role in making music and reaching clinical goals. Stacey was one of the first leaders in the nation to hire parents on staff; together they work to ensure that within CMH there will be a culture of information sharing, participation, and collaboration between patients, families, and staff and that all families will be treated with dignity and respect.
